Album Review: Giggs - Landlord

Giggs' newly released studio album, 'Landlord', brings you the wordplay and metaphors along with the clarity and effortless flow that we associate with the UK rapper.

The album kicks off with a candid insight into the world of Giggs. The ups and downs of being Giggs - The Rapper, The Road Dude, The Man. He opens the door to his life and lets you into his 'home'.
From the old school feel of a hip hop album 'Intro', to the trapsoul feeling Rico Love featured track, 'Of Course', Giggs references the real life struggles. The daily tug of war between the street life and the Music.

In a "no-hold bars kinda way" Giggs gives you a raw glimpse into what real 'Thuglife' is about. On tracks like 'Savage', which sees him reunited with UK rapper, Kyze, and the track 'Slippin' he opens up about the life that you have to live whilst being on the road, always looking over your back, never being able to relax. The REALity!!!

Listening to tracks, 'Just Swervin', and 'The New Shit' is where you experience the uniqueness of Giggs. The way he lets the beat possess him then BANG, he's got you b•tches on 'Lock (Doh)' "lol TTKK"
'Whippin Excursion' is evidence of his lyrical personality. His punchlines, his phrases and that famous Giggs "UUMMMM".

The 'Netflix and Chill' of the album is the track, 'The Process'. With the electric guitar rift in the Greatness Jones produced beat and his lucid tone this is the Giggs for the ladies. Giggs speaks about the reality of a relationship, the cycles people go through - Love - hate - then love again. This is one of my favourite tracks on the album.

'Landlord' is an unequivocal rap album, it embraces the true old school hip hop essence whilst still reflecting the UK lifestyle. The way that each track is delivered is capivating. It's like your there, seeing what he's seeing, feeling what he's feeling.
This album is a reminder, that not everything has to be made for the radio. So many artist focus on having that 'radio hit' or that 'club banger,' and they lose their musical quality.

Giggs has gone into the studio and made music that he believes in and that represents him.

"This is an album that has everything a hip hop devotee would identify with, whether your into the US scene or the UK scene you'll be able to relate."

'Landlord' is available to stream and download now.
