Kendall Jenner x Pepsi "Live For Now" Ad Campaign Gets Pulled

I have seen so much uproar regarding Pepsi's new 2017 'Live For Now' ad campaign.

The advert reflected the fight for unity and the breaking down of barriers that stands in many people's way..."and  it seems this can be done with a can of Pepsi. lol" *Side Eye*

Many people were offended by this ad due to the picture that was used, it imitates the image captured during the Baton Rouge Riots in which Iesha Evans stood before police as they rushed towards her.

No, a can of Pepsi isn't going to help solve the world's problems, but it definitely got the topic of  'Black Lives Matter' and police brutality back to the forefront. This picture impacted such a large demographic of people and has definitely cemented it's place in our history books.

Along with the Iesha Evans image being emulated the main issue with this advert is the fact that Kendall Jenner, a white woman, who has never shown any public stand for anything related to the #BLM movement or police brutality is the lead character. Kendall has always seemed to shy away from saying anything which may be deemed as controversial, this was documented in an episode of 'Keeping up with the Kardashians', where Kendall struggled with deciding if she should comment on the spate of gun violence that had been happening in America because she was worried about the backlash she would receive.

Bernice King is not too impressed with Pepsi

Pepsi have released a statement to Teen Vogue In which they defend their advert:

"The creative showcases a moment of unity, and a point where multiple storylines converge in the final advert. It depicts various groups of people embracing a spontaneous moment, and showcasing Pepsi’s brand rallying cry to 'Live For Now,' in an exploration of what that truly means to live life unbounded, unfiltered and uninhibited."

Pepsi  had a rethink, as they have now pulled the advert and released a new statement:

Pepsi's new statement

It turns out the advert wasn't supposed to be shown in the U.S and was meant for Pepsi's oversea customers but because (allegedly) Kris and Kendall shared the link on social media it was made available for everyone to see.
