Red Bull Culture Clash 2016: MixPak Wins!!!

On Friday, 17th, June 'The Red Bull Culture Clash' took place at the London 02 arena and rightly so MixPak won.

Of course I have to rep my people and my people done well. "Jamaica, Jamaica."

For those who are not familiar with the term '(Sound) Clash', it is when DJ's and/or members of a sound system compete against other playing different genres of music.
'Dubs' - "chart songs re-recorded by the original artist to include the DJ or sounds name - are played, the better the dub, the more of a chance the sound might have of winning.

Getting one of the biggest artist in the world, with the biggest song of the moment on dub then you know your winning...

...and that's exactly what MixPak did.

Explicit Language:

Drake?... Check
Number one song in the charts?... Check
Winners?... Check

Drake/One Dance

Mixpakwhich included, Tony Matterhorn, Popcaan and Spice brought the dancehall vibe and deserved to win.

Winners!!! MixPak
Wiz and Taylor Gang,  brought out Ty Dolla and they killed it with their dubs.

Wiz Khalifa & Taylor Gang

"They had dubs for days".

UKG Allstars brought the fun and excitement.

Eskimo Dance...well they brought themselves.

Eskimo Dance & Wiley (Blue Bandana on waist)

Don't get me wrong, Eskimo Dance weren't terrible. Wiley kicked off the Clash with a wicked vibe, the crowd was jumping and getting "fully involved".

Perfect intro for the concept of the clash.

Stormzy didn't need to start spitting, he had the crowd locked, they knew ALL the lyrics.

His performance was DOPE!!!

Sidenote: Stormzy's clarity and interaction with his audience is dope. Whether your a fan of grime or not, he can get you into his "trance".

Chipmunk's vibe was a little off.

Now it could of been down to nerves or maybe someone pissed him off backstage, any which way it wasn't a good look.

Finally...I don't mean to go in on Eskimo Dance but what happened to Logan's dubs?

"He listened to everyone else's dubs and got fraid."

Tim Westwood should of stepped in. "Just saying."

Note to Clash participators:

Sound Clash rule number 1: If the round is a 'Dub Round', then dubs HAVE to be played.

Sound Clash rule number..."I don't know but it's up there" - Never wheel up your own tune wait for the crowd to request that.

I'm not going to use this post to give my opinion on the grime scene but they really could of done much better.

Congrats to MixPak!!!
