Akala Speaks To GMB

I have been asking for this for a while and was very pleased to see that  ITV's Good Morning Britain had invited Rapper and Educator, Akala, on to the programme to discuss the recent spate of youth violence.

Rapper & Educator, Akala

Akala has so much knowledge and knows how to articulate himself. There was things he said that I had no idea about.

"I never knew a black child in the UK has a higher IQ than even Einstein and the four youngest people to ever do their GCSE's early were also black."

In 2014, Ramarni Wilfred was just 11 Years-Old when he obtained an IQ score of 162, this was more than (Stephen) Hawkings, (Bill) Gates and (Albert) Einstein were able to achieve.

Ramarni Wilfred is now 16 years-old
Hawkings, Gates and Einstein all have an IQ score of 160. Wilfred's score of 162 puts him in the top 1% in the UK.

Of course this is not published in the UK press like it should be, with some media outlets having the audacity to have headlines reading, "Is this Britain's smartest schoolboy?"- Mirror.

"Is this Britain's smartest schoolboy? Are you kidding me. What do you think the IQ score means? Dam right he is.
Why is this even a question?"

In 2010, a young black girl named Desiree Alli who was only 5 years-old at the time, achieved an A* in GCSE Maths. This was of course overlooked by the UK media as they spent most the time reporting about another child who also obtained the same grade at age seven, however he was of European descent.

The seven year-old child received more press and admiration than Desiree and there were no question's asked.
Even when an article was about Desiree it always ended with a pleasant paragraph about the seven year-old child. "This always happens and is why we don't see many positive reports or articles in the press about black people."

How black people are depicted in the media was also spoken about briefly, although this is a topic in itself, and Good Morning Britain do have some lessons to learn when it comes to this matter.

This was definitely confirmed today when I watched Good Morning Britain. After having Akala on the programme, uplifting and highlighting the excellence within the black community, GMB invite a young white child on to the programme to show how great his memory is and give him the title of 'Child Einstein'.

"Really?"

Why was this child on the programme? What was the point? "I didn't know reading an autocue made you a genius."

This had nothing to do with anything other than Akala drawing attention to the achievements accomplished by young black people and GMB needing to please their core viewers by inviting a "brainy" white child on to the programme.

Shaunie Investigates: Another Day But The Same Ol' Narrative

When we have intelligent, articulate people like UK Rapper, Akala ready and willing to provide an knowledgeable perspective on knife crime within the UK, why does Good Morning Britain insist on using the stereotypical representation of what society has depicted the black man of being?

UK Hip Hop Artist, Writer & Educator, Akala.

"Is it because it's funny and it fits the narrative that these type of media outlets want to put out to their majoritively white audience - black people are either aggressive, illiterate or Jesters?"

ITV's Good Morning Britain,  had guest Faron Paul was on the programme discussing an informal knife amnesty scheme he has set up.

Faron gives vouchers to people that have passed their knives onto him after making contact via email or social media. Faron explained that this amnesty was a good incentive for getting knives off the street and instead of giving money, he gives these 'could-be' criminals high street vouchers.

A Just Giving page had been set up to help raise funds to pay for the vouchers but unfortunately the page was recently shut down, forcing Faron to recently incur costs of £300 for vouchers to get 30 knives off the street.

Although I may not fully agree with the concept of this scheme, ("because knives are so easy to obtain, someone could easily just hand in seven knives, collect seven £10 vouchers and go buy a decent pair of sneakers from JD Sports,") I do believe Faron sees his intentions as good.

Shaunie Investigates: Hoping For A Better 2019 🙏🏾

I have been hoping that 2019 does not see the same murder numbers in the UK like we saw last year.

We're already a quarter through the year and although the death toll is not the same as it was this time last year, the number is still high.

Fourteen people have died in knife-related incidents within the capital since the beginning of 2019, The most recent stabbing being a 17 year old Jodie Chesney, who was stabbed in the back in an East London park whilst she hung out with friends, listening to music and having fun.

"Can these young people no longer chill in the park without being worried about themselves or one of their friends ending up dead?"

The first two deaths in 2019 took place on New Year's Day. Charlotte Huggins, 33, who had an eleven year-old daughter, died after being stabbed at her childhood home in Camberwell, South London. Thirty-Four year-old Michael Rolle has been charged with Huggins' death and will stand trial at the Old Bailey on 1 July 2019.

On the same night, Romanian security guard, Tudor Simionov, 33, was killed whilst doing his job at an exclusive Park Lane members only club. Simionov was stabbed after not allowing a group of people into the venue where an alleged orgy-type party was being held.

Four People have been charged with Simionov's murder, however, a fifth suspect is said to be on the run.

Seven days after the murders of Huggins and Simionov, fourteen year-old Jaden Moodie was killed in  East London during an attack which is said to have lasted less than a minute. Eye-witnesses say they saw Moodie knocked from his moped and then stabbed by five men.

"Man" Attacks Woman Outside Of South London Bar

A Twitter user by the name of @Tan_yaa_ uploaded a video on to Twitter showing her friend being assaulted outside of the Lotus Cocktail Bar in Clapham, South London, after attending a New Year's Eve party.

The video, which has attracted the attention of the police, not only due to the ruthlessness of this attack but also to the fact that the suspect is a man..."and I use this term only for biological reasons." and the assault was on a woman.

Police are looking for the suspect.

When the video begins a male security guard, wearing a HiVis vest, is seen pulling a woman away from an altercation which is happening off camera. As the woman is pulled back, a man comes into the camera shot and starts punching the woman in her head and face with fully clenched fists, the woman keeps her head down whilst her hair is dragged, before she falls to the ground, another woman, who could be a friend of the victim, runs over and attempts to push the man away from the woman, the "man" then runs off.

The punk grabs the woman by her hair

He punches the woman over ten times
The security guard is not equipped for this incident.

The woman falls to the floor and the man runs off....
